The library collections are classified and cataloged using the Library of Congress Classification System. Specifically, letters of the alphabet and Arabic numbers are used in classifying books and other library materials.
The library is currently using ATHENA, a high-performance library automation software. Its revolutionary searching capabilities give the students the power they need to perform highly advanced, precise searches without sacrificing the needs of the sophisticated patrons.
The Colegio de San Juan de Letran library system uses a divided dictionary catalog. It means that the catalog is divided into two components: the author/title and the subject catalogs. Each component is arranged alphabetically like a dictionary and follows the ALA filing rules. The subject entries of the subject catalog are all capitalized.
Access to library collections can also be done by using the online catalog. Several units have been installed in the library for purposes of search and retrieval of information. Inquiries can be addressed to any of the library staff.
Announcements lists of newly acquired books and other library matters are regularly posted in the bulletin boards.
Library users are requested to deposit their things at the counter upon entering the library. Valuables such as cash, jewelries, cell phones and the like are excluded. Owners are responsible for their safekeeping. Lost tag numbers must be reported immediately to the librarian-in-charge and payment must be done at the Finance office.
The library has its own homepage designed to provide all the necessary information about the library, its services, staff, collection, and other pertinent information to the different library users using the internet. The library homepage may be visited at Library.letranbataan.edu.ph
Each section of the library has computer units intended for online journals, newspapers in DVD format and for other online research.
